Frequently asked questions

The questions we are asked before every mandate.

Two gates, two sets of questions. Choose the side you are on — or read both, since many accounts sit on both.

Choose your side

Which describes you?

We represent a qualified product into our commercial account network. That means qualification and due diligence, a representation agreement, positioning and pricing guidance, introductions to buyers who are relevant to your category, and management of the commercial relationship afterwards. We are not a distributor: we do not take title to your stock.

Qualification. We look at the company, the product and the commercial position: registration and jurisdiction, manufacturing and certification, compliance and labelling, product liability insurance, capacity, lead times, pricing structure and target markets. If the product is market-ready we move to representation (Tier 1). If it is not yet ready, we can engage on a development basis first (Tier 2).

It is an evidence pack: corporate documents, certifications, specifications, insurance and references. You complete it once through your portal, and everything afterwards runs from it. Speed depends almost entirely on how quickly the documents come back — the pack itself is straightforward.

Representation is commission-based: we are paid a contractual percentage of qualifying sales that are attributable to our introduction, once those sales are invoiced and paid. Tier 2 development work is quoted as a fee before it starts. Rates are set per agreement — there is no standard rate published, because category, margin and workload differ.

A sale attributable to a Y&J introduction or a protected account, made within the agreement term or its protected tail, invoiced and paid by the end customer, and net of returns, credits and rebates. The definition is written into your agreement so there is nothing to interpret later.

Usually by market or channel rather than globally, and only where it is justified by the work involved. Whatever is agreed is written into the representation agreement, with a defined term and defined review points.

Timely sales reporting against introduced accounts, current documentation as certifications renew, and a named contact who can answer commercial questions. Everything else runs through your portal.

Yes. Your portal shows your mandate status, the gate you are at, open actions, agreements, reported activity and invoices — the same records we work from internally, filtered to what belongs to you.

Both gates

Questions everyone asks.

Where Y&J makes an introduction, that introduction is recorded, notified and contractually protected for a defined period, including a tail on continuing business. It means the relationship cannot simply be routed around the firm after the first order.

In one permissioned system. Access is role-based and enforced server-side, every material change is recorded with who changed it and when, and clients see only their own records. Documents are held against the record they belong to, not in email.

Only with disclosure to both parties. Where a conflict cannot be managed transparently, we decline the mandate.

Send an enquiry with a short description of your product or requirement. We respond with either a qualification pack (Gate 1) or a requirement brief (Gate 2), and the mandate begins from there.
